To strengthen the Align/exocad Finance team we are looking for you as a

Software Revenue Accounting Manager (m/w/d)

This position is located at the exocad headquarter in Darmstadt, Germany and reports to the Senior Director, Revenue Management of Align with dotted line responsibility to the exocad CFO.  This is a strategic role responsible for ensuring the accurate recording of all revenue transactions related to the exocad software business. 

This person will leverage their strong technical and operational software revenue accounting background in an environment with multiple performance obligations and has a proven ability to work with cross-functional teams in a global organization.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all revenue accounting aspects of the exocad software business including month-end close, preparation of US GAAP journal entries and GL account reconciliations, flux and trended revenue analyses, and timely preparation of financial reporting deliverables
  • Manage and improve the MS Excel-based revenue accounting model
  • Manage the end-to-end process of determining standalone selling price for software upgrades and services. This includes presentation to senior management for review of the deferral rates and explanation of timing of revenue recognition
  • Partnering with regional finance teams and corporate FP&A to support forecast and guidance activities
  • Ensure the integrity of key processes by understanding systems, flow of transactions, internal controls and provide recommendations to improve efficiency and effectiveness
  • Work with exocad Finance team to improve integration with Corporate
  • Manage SOX compliance for exocad revenue.  Coordinate with Internal Audit to ensure compliance with key control requirements, educate and communicate changes, manage activities for annual process walk-throughs, and assist in key control design as operations evolve
  • Initial assessment on significant contracts, new products and new go to market strategies related to US GAAP revenue accounting
  • Coordinate across entities (Align and exocad) and functions such as Finance, Commercial Operations, FP&A
  • Organize and communicate the monthly Corporate Revenue team close calendar and provide status updates to the team and Corporate Accounting
  • Assist the Director of Technical Revenue Accounting as needed in review of customer contracts and promotions for proper revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606 guidance and company policy
  • Partner with the Sr. Manager of Revenue Reporting to strategize the implementation of reporting tools to build efficiencies in revenue operations processes

What you offer

  • Bachelor’s or master's degree-level in Accounting/Finance or related
  • Licensed Chartered Accountant or CPA preferred
  • 12+ years of progressive experience – preferably a combination of public accounting firm experience and US public companies with software revenue streams in a high-growth environment
  • In-depth knowledge of and experience in applying US GAAP ASC 606 guidance
  • Experience with US SOX internal control requirements
  • Profound English (level C), fluent German desirable
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to define problems, analyze data, implement policies and operational changes to improve efficiency and achieve organizational objectives
  • SAP, or other large ERP system, experience
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Creative mind. Detail oriented. Strong numeric skills. Team player.
  • IT/software affinity would be beneficial
