Software Engineering Manager (m/f/d)

In our matrix organization, the Integration Team Manager works closely with R&D clinicians, scientists, product marketers and engineers across all our brands to design & deliver new high-quality products. This role is involved in the product life cycle from strategy and concept to product and feature requirements to use cases to actual development of early prototypes and transition of projects to full development teams.

This is a core role where the manager shall provide leadership for our products’ evolution. It requires a deep technical foundation in computer science & software engineering. It requires a strong ability to develop difficult creative projects. It is a challenging position that requires strong engineering skills, excellent communication skills and ability to work across a cross functional set of end users and engineers.

In this role, you will…

  • Lead and mentor a high performing team of Software Engineers
  • Engage with our product & platform leaders to help address key opportunities
  • Collaborate with other leaders and executives to enable integration of our solutions into Align’s platforms
  • Work closely with Advanced Technology Research team to define & prepare products for production
  • Understand and analyze the interplay of hardware, software architecture, and AI frameworks
  • Analyze trade-offs in terms of performance, cost, and accuracy to identify the appropriate framework and algorithms for various business use cases
  • Collaborate with other Software Development teams in areas of joint responsibilities
  • Effectively communicate the project status to stakeholders as required
  • Participate in on-site work aimed at realization of software applications
  • Hire top talent
  • Manage, train, and develop staff

The personal requirements

  • PhD, Masters or Bachelor in a relevant discipline (CS, EE, Math) with 5+ years of related work in complex software development
  • 5+ years of experience leading a group of Software Engineers
  • 10+ years of practical professional coding experience
  • 3D or CAD development experience highly appreciated
  • Willingness to comply with processes required for a medical device Class II SDLC
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills required with the ability to interface with product teams, as well as internal/external customers
  • Experienced in developing software in an Agile SDLC
  • Ability to communicate with people, to clearly express thoughts
  • Excellent verbal and written English
